The nightmare ordeal aboard the cruise ship Triumph is finally over for Gina Howe, as she landed at Detroit's Metro Airport Friday, reuniting her with family and friends who welcomed her with open arms. The Washtenaw County woman was one of the 4,200 passengers and crew who endured hellish conditions after the Carnival Cruise ship lost power and became stranded at sea.

Howe and a friend from Texas took the cruise to honor their longtime friend who recently lost her battle with cancer. The toilet in their cabin overflowed with raw sewage, and she and her friend were only able to endure one night in their stifling hot interior quarters. They spent their remaining nights on the ship's deck.

Howe told WXYZ that even though this cruise was hardly the vacation she had planned, she hasn't ruled out cashing in the voucher for a free cruise she's been given by Carnival.
