A Clarkston woman who was on the verge of being homeless has won $25,000 per year for life from the Michigan Lottery.

Shawna Donnelly matched all five balls drawn on January 15th in the 'Lucky for Life' game. She tells WDIV "I woke up in the middle of the night and had a feeling I should check my tickets. When I saw I matched five numbers, I must have refreshed my phone 100 times to make sure I really won."

Donnelly says the last year has been especially difficult, as she has been taking care of her aging mother. She opted to take a one-time payment of $390,000, rather than the lottery's 20-year payout option.
