Kid Rock won't be filming a music video at a women's prison in Ypsilanti. The Michigan Department of Corrections has denied the singer's request to bring a TV production company to the Huron Valley Correctional Facility to perform in front of 2,000 inmates.

Chris Gautz, MDOC's communications director, tells the Detroit News that accommodating the request would pose security risks. Each piece used to assemble a stage would have to be meticulously inventoried, and any building material accidentally left behind could potentially be used as a weapon.

“We’re not a concert venue,” Gautz said. “We’re a professional organization, and our task is to house and rehabilitate prisoners. Attending a rock concert is not going to do anything to facilitate the rehabilitation process.”

Rock's camp is now in talks with the MDOC about filming a video at the now defunct maximum security prison in Standish. That facility closed in 2009.
