Last year alone, they helped over 40 children who came to the farm for therapy after the loss of a parent, and now they're focusing on our vets.

Horses Heal Hearts of Michigan is an organization out of Tyrone Township that's run by local horse owner/trainer Tim Scarberry of WindWalker Farms.

A couple of weeks ago, two of their horses were on duty for veterans events - one for homeless vets in Detroit, and the other on the U of M campus as part of the Student Veteran Association. The veterans spent most of their time petting and visiting the horses.

Horses serve as animal therapy for people who are sick, mentally ill, have addiction problems, PTSD and more. Scarberry says that they've brought the horses out for therapy for children and police officers before, and now he wants to focus on veterans to "give back."
