It took just seconds for judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton to turn their chairs around as Traverse City's Joshua Davis took the stage on 'The Voice' Monday night.

Davis got the judges' attention immediately as he launched into 'I Shall Be Released' (below), originally recorded by The Band in 1968.

Blake Shelton quipped, “Adam wants you on his team so you can help him. I want you on my team so I can help you!”

Davis, 37, lives in Traverse City with his wife and two children. He teaches music, and is currently working on a project in which children with disabilities are able to engage in music. Davis hopes to have the project underway in the spring.
