Imagine getting a cellphone bill for $17,476.99. As Mike Domzalski crossed the Ambassador Bridge from Detroit to Canada with his family, his 11-year-old son used his iPad to kill some time watching movies. As they crossed the border into Canada, the international roaming charges began to rack up. And up. And Up.

"They want to charge me $17,000," he said. "I just think it's insanity. (I'm) more than willing to pay what the actual rate would be. A couple hundred dollars but this is like buying a brand new car for a roaming charge," Domzalski tells Detroit's WJBK.

Ironically, Domzalski's son didn't get much enjoyment out of the videos he was attempting to watch.

"For $17,000 he never even saw anything. The screen went blank and there was no connection for the whole time we were getting billed."

So far, attempts to negotiate a lower rate with AT&T have been unsuccessful.
