A bill proposed in Lansing could soon require that license plates be on the front and back of every vehicle registered in the state.

The legislation was proposed by state Senator Tupac Hunter of Detroit. He said he did so after a former law enforcement suggested it as a way to reduce crime. It was argued that front license plates will help police track suspects down and help with safety.

Michigan is one of 19 states that do not require front and rear license plates. Neighboring states Ohio and Wisconsin require two plates while Indiana does not. Prospects for the legislation remain unclear as there are concerns about the cost.

What do you think? Are you for or against two license plates? Do you agree with the argument that it could help with crime and safety?
