"It wasn't just the doughnuts we were afraid of losing, it was that sense of community."

Cops in Clare, Michigan, were determined NOT to see their town's only bakery close. So, all nine of them pitched in $1,500 a piece to lease the property. And they turned it into Cops & Doughnuts, a themed doughnut shop.

"Our town's only doughnut shop was gonna close, and we weren't gonna let that happen."

And yes, they live up to every single stereotype. Visitors have their mugshots taken, they're "interrogated" as they walk in (don't worry, they're just greeted) and they're in the process of taking their brand national.

Here I am, sitting around, eating baby carrots for breakfast...and now I want a doughnut.
