A Lansing church is using free beer to attract new members. Crossroads Church is located on the second floor of a building on Michigan Avenue, and calls its latest venture 'The Upper Room' project. The church will offer the free drink to first-time attendees, and hopes to attract people whose relationships with traditional churches has been tenuous or non-existent, according to church founder Noah Filipiak.

"We think it communicates something to people that are very leery of church and very leery of the church being very judgmental about things," he tells the Detroit Free Press.

Crossroads' Upper Room services are held Tuesday evenings at 7 pm.
