Lieutenant Colonel Sherwood Baker just wanted to accompany his daughter to school, and speak to her guidance counselor as she began the school year at Rochester Adams High School. He was promptly turned away by security, and told that in order to enter the building he would have to change out of his Army uniform.

WJBK reports that Rochester Schools Superintendent Robert Shaner quickly apologized.

"The district has apologized for any perception that individuals in uniform are not welcome in the school. The district does not have a policy excluding individuals in uniform and will be working with administration and the firm that handles our security to make sure district policies are understood and communicated accurately."
