Our daughter-in-law Jill waited a long time, but on Monday (7-14), she and my stepson were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Charleigh Elizabeth arrived at 11:55 am, weighing 7 lbs, 9 oz.

I may be a little biased, but she is absolutely perfect. She has delicate little features, lots of dark hair, and that unmistakable new-baby smell.

The last leg of our little munchkin's journey was a little rough, as Charleigh sent Mom to the hospital three times in as many days, thinking it was time. Each time, they were sent back home. That can happen, especially with the first one, right? Then some last-minute complications meant Charleigh would be delivered via Caesarean section. So three days of labor, AND a C-section - yup, every mother's dream...

So I guess that means three beautiful granddaughters for us. One we inherited last year when another of Denise's sons got married, one whose memory will always be in our hearts, and another one we look forward to spoiling and then sending home!

I still maintain that I'm much too young to be married to a grandmother. :)
