The hotel chain has launched a new program called "The Envelope Please" that encourages you to leave a monetary tip for the person who cleans your room.

Reports say workers who take your bags or park cars are more likely to get tipped because they "make a personal connection" with you. The CEO of Marriott International suggests leaving $1 to $5 per night, depending on your room rate. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says the median salary for housekeepers is $19,570 per year, or about $9.41 per hour. Some people say that Marriott should just pay their workers enough to live, other people didn't know that tipping the maid was customary.

I'll be honest, I didn't know you were supposed to tip the person who cleans your room!
