Man Accused of Putting Baby Daughter in Freezer

A Washington state man is in jail after being accused of putting his infant daughter in a freezer long enough for the baby's body temperature to fall to 84 degrees.

Tyler Deutsch has been charged with Assault of a Child in the First Degree, Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree and Interfering with the Reporting of Domestic violence.

The 25-year-old man placed the baby in the freezer when she wouldn't stop crying, and then fell asleep. The girl's mother arrived home and found Deutsch removing the baby from the freezer, but when she attempted to call 911, he prevented her from doing so. She took the baby from the trailer the three share and got the attention of neighbors who summoned authorities.

The baby also suffered from a broken arm, broken leg, and head injury. She is expected to survive, but officials say it's too early to determine if she'll suffer any complications.

Bail for the man has been set at $1 million.
