‘Louie’ Season 4: Watch All of Hungarian Amia’s “Elevator” Dialogue Translated

Last night’s dual ‘Louie‘ installments “Elevator Part 6″ and “Pamela Part 1” took the stories to some pretty extreme highs and lows for Louis C.K.’s sadsack comedian character, but regardless of your take on the latter’s difficult content, the resolution with Louie’s Hungarian-speaking lady-friend Amia (Eszter Balint) proved admirably sweet. Now, after 6 episodes, we can finally find out what the character has been saying!

The good folks at Slate put together an exceptional video translating all of Amia’s dialogue through the series, from the moment Louie first encounters her on Ivanka (Ellen Burstyn)’s couch in “Elevator Part 1,” to the tender farewell given in last night’s “Elevator Part 6.” There aren’t too many surprises to be found in the character’s Hungarian dialect, though we at least get some clarification into the aftermath of their night together in “Elevator Part 5,” as well as her words inside the church just before Hurricane Jasmine Forsythe

While next week’s 90-minute ‘In the Woods Part 1″ and “In the Woods Part 2″ don’t suggest the possibility of Amia’s return (the character has seemingly returned to Hungary), nor do the final installments “Pamela Part 2″ and “Pamela Part 3,” Louie and Amia’s linguistically-challenged connection remains a highlight of the fourth season, one with which we can now appreciate in a bit more context.

You can check out Slate’s helpful ‘Louie’ season 4 video above, and tell us in the comments what you thought of the conclusion to the “Elevator” arc! Would you want to see the character return in a future season?
