Their main goal is to serve pets in Flint's poorest neighborhoods.

On Saturday, the local group Pets in Peril set up shop in the parking lot of the Franklin Avenue Mission on the east side. They say that it's important to keep straw in outdoor dog houses for animals that are chained up outside, especially for short-haired breeds.

They do stress that animals with short hair should be brought in when the temps reach 20 degrees, and long-haired breeds should be brought in when the temps reach 0.
