You can help hungry families in our area without leaving your house.

Saturday May 14th is the 18th annual Letter Carriers Food Drive.  You are encouraged to help fight hunger by placing a bag with canned goods by your mailbox.  U.S. Postal workers will pick it up and deliver it to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.  Your help makes a big difference to people right here in Genesee  County and surrounding areas.  More than 80 thousand people in Genesee County are "food insecure", which means that they have had to choose between paying for food and housing and other essentials.  This problem is not just in the inner cities, but in the suburbs and outlying areas too.  Set out some non-perishable food items on May 14th.  It will really make a difference to someone.

This food drive is a joint effort of the National Association of Letter Carriers, AFL-CIO and the United Way.

Mark it on your calendar.  May 14th.  Help fight hunger!
