Where was the last place you caught someone picking their nose? At a traffic light, or at a playground? After picking, did they eat what ended up on the end of their finger? Eating boogers has always been a huge social no-no, but a Canadian biochemist is working to change that with a very thought provoking hypothesis!

Scott Napper, an associate professor of biochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan maintains that the mucous in our nasal passages traps germs. He claims that if we eat that mucous, a.k.a. boogers, we ultimately boost our immune system.

Does this story have you reaching for the hand sanitizer? Would you eat, or let your kids eat boogers for the health benefits?
