Lapeer residents are still in disbelief after reports that singer Alex Band of 'The Calling' was kidnapped, beaten, and left for dead early Sunday morning after performing at last weekend's 'Lapeer Days' festival. Two Lapeer women, Hannah and Cassidy Klebba, have taken to YouTube to apologize on their town's behalf.

The 'Wherever You Will Go' singer alleges that two men in a blue van abducted him while he was walking from his hotel to a convenience store at about 4am Sunday. Band was left with a fractured lower spine, needed 15 stitches, and had three broken teeth.

In a statement, he singer said he begged the assailants for mercy, telling them that he's going to soon be a father.

"I am grateful to be alive and I know that I am destined for bringing my music back to my fans...I never thought my unborn child would be my savior."

This week, Band acknowledged that he has had a substance abuse problem in the past, but denies rumors and allegations that the incident was drug-related or faked.

"I take my rehabilitation very seriously. I was near death due to this unbelievable situation, and the rumours are categorically false."
