Hold your swearing, it's really for a good reason. Not just for fun.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), starting today (7/18) are investing about $2.5 million in improvements to that kind of sketchy Lapeer Road bridge over I-69. Road crews will be working on steel repairs, a new bridge deck, and painting to get this bridge up and running. This project is going to include the road being totally closed until October 2016 and might have some lane closures on I-69 as well.

In order to get around this project, here are your detours. Commit them to memory:

  • Westbound Lapeer Road - South on M-15 to westbound I-69, take Exit 143 (Irish Road), south on Irish to Lapeer Road.
  • Eastbound Lapeer Road - North on Irish Road to eastbound I-69, take Exit 145 (M-15), north on M-15 to Lapeer Road.
