In response to the recent teen suicides in lake Orion, Oakland Christian Church in Oakland Township (near Rochester Hills) hosts 'Youth Hope Fest' this weekend. Special guest emcees for the event will be evangelists Keith and Mary Hudson - Katy Perry's parents.

Youth Hope Fest is Sunday, September 9th, beginning at 4:30 pm. OCC is located at 5100 N. Adams Rd. in Rochester. Admission is $5.

OCC’s Youth Hope Fest concludes the Battle of the Bands events that OCC has been hosting over the summer. Judges from the music industry will vote to determine the winning bands based on performance, songwriting, audience reaction and overall energy. The winner of this finale event will receive a free recording and music video shoot. The event includes free food, beverages, and prizes. In addition, All Access Youth is having an Art & Music Festival, hosting an open skate park, BMX & skate stunts, and lots of giveaways.

“We are on the front lines with these local students who are going back to school after last year’s tragedies,” says OCC’s Pastor Dominic Russo. “We want the teens to know they have us in their corner, that we are here to support them and walk with them through these times. They have done a stellar job getting to this side of the tragedy and we continue to provide them with hope in their futures.”
