My wife and I swapped vehicles today since she was running low on gas. I told her I would take her car and fill it up on my lunch break. With my new car, I have a cool hi-tech key, but you still have to put it in the ignition and turn it to start the car. With her car, you don't need to put the key in the ignition, you just need to have it on you. Then you can start it with the push of a button... sometimes.

For some reason when I was leaving for work this morning, I couldn't get her car to start. Why? Because the car wouldn't detect the key! I held it right next to the start button, locked and unlocked the car, triggered the panic alarm, I even opened the side doors and rear hatch from the remote. The car obviously detected those signals from the key, but couldn't detect the key itself. Really?

After arguing with this supposedly convenient technology for almost 10 minutes, the car finally decided to start. I got to work with no further technical glitches, but when I went to leave for lunch, guess what? Yup! It took another five minute battle before I was able to get moving.

That's just one example of technology slowing us down instead of helping us keep up with today's fast-paced world. What tech-turmoil have you had to deal with?
