I was an avid watcher of the ABC soap opera 'General Hospital' during the summer of 1981. It was the summer leading up to my October wedding so I watched with great interest the wedding of Diana and Prince Charles, and the wedding of television royalty, Luke and Laura. They say that a love like that never dies, and General Hospital does celebrate a 50 year anniversary soon. Would they? Could they?

'General Hospital' is the only surviving soap opera left on ABC. As the very popular soap opera approaches its' 50 year anniversary, it has brought back some of its' most beloved characters. Now it has been confirmed that Genie Francis has returned to the set to resurrect the character of Laura. There is no official word yet as to how long Laura will stick around Port Charles, or if the show's writers are planning to reunite Luke and Laura.

Did you spend the summer of 1981 with Luke and Laura? Do you miss the other ABC soap operas 'All My Children' and 'One Life To Live'?
