Thomas Lauxs lived only for a few days, but his short time on Earth had a lasting impact on his family. Deidrea and T.K. Lauxs found out during their pregnancy that their unborn baby had Trisomy 13. Babies with the genetic disorder are often not able to survive the birth process, or live for only a short time. Faced with the option of terminating Deidrea's pregnacy, or having at most a few days with their son, the couple decided to choose life.

The video, which has been shared extensively over the last few days, was actually posted to YouTube back in 2009 by the Dallas Morning News. I chose to share it with you today because it's a touching look at the Lauxs' journey, and because it impacted me personally. Earlier this year, we lost a granddaughter who was born much too early to survive. Our little angel lived for only 37 minutes, but her memory will be with us always.
