It was an annual event for the Barber babies. The trip to the Sears Portrait Studio was a big deal in our house and in countless homes across the United States. Sadly though, a post on their website indicates that this iconic tradition may not be an option for families anymore.

CPI, the parent company that runs approximately 2,700 portrait studios in Walmart and Sears have announced that they are shutting their doors. The company has been struggling financially for some time and hasn't been able to secure help from any banks or lenders. CPI CEO Jim Abel said in a letter to employees, "the decline of our business has proved too great an obstacle to overcome."

If you have had a portrait session done recently, or have an album and would like to order products or additional reprints go to searsphotos.com thru Thursday, April 18 of this year. Check out their official statement here.
