Have the tissues handy for this one, cuz somebody is cutting onions in here.

Mari Brooks works at the Humane Society of Genesee County, and her son Austin also volunteers there. Last month, they lost their beloved cat, Diddle. In the words of Mari, Diddle and Austin were "best friends."

Mari also fosters animals from the HSGC, and decided to put a "hold" on one of the adorable black kitties named Gizzard. At their "Hope for the Holidays" event over the weekend, Austin took a picture with Santa...who then presented him with his new kitty.

Something about kids crying out of happiness just moves me to my core. Maybe because I remember the first time I cried from being happy as a child - it's such an amazing feeling.

Enjoy your new furrrever home, Gizzard!
