Howell Students Reprimanded for Racist Tweets After Defeating Grand Blanc [VIDEO]
Officials at Howell High School say they have reprimanded students who posted racist tweets after the school's basketball team defeated the Grand Blanc Bobcats in a regional championship game last week. There are also reports that some Howell students shouted racial slurs during the contest in which the nearly all-white team topped Grand Blanc, a team which is made up of black and white players.
Several Howell students reported the objectionable tweets to school administrators.
"Not only did we beat Grand Blanc but we're all white. Howell's the definite winner tonight."
"All hail white power. #hitlerismydad".
"Tonight was probably one of the most [racist] nights of my life. I heard so many slurs and expressions. I also said a few things..."
Howell High School's Tom Gould tells WJBK that disciplinary action has been taken, but because of privacy issues and school policy, he is unable to elaborate.
Gould tells the Fox affiliate that the students have apologized for their actions. One student tweeted, "I know that [wasn't] a smart thing to say last night, emotions ran high and I didn't mean it. To all the GB I'm really genuinely sorry."
