The weather didn't do much to help the Cars 108 Garden this year.  Lots of 90+ degree weather and very little in the way of rain led to a disappointing harvest.  We didn't find Jimmy Hoffa either. When my wife and I put the garden in just before Memorial Day, we had high hopes.  We planted tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, peppers and broccoli.  Our garden is a good walk out back of the radio station, and there is not a water source nearby.  I spent a lot of time and energy carrying the watering can to try to keep the plants from burning up  in the hot sun, but it appeared to be time wasted this season. We also had some burrowing varmints that fattened themselves up on the few surviving plants.  We planted three rows of potatoes and a couple of rows of tomatoes, but couldn't even fill a 5-gallon bucket with what survived.  There are still some tomatoes on the vine, but those will be slim pickin's.  Fortunately, the garden we planted at home did pretty good this year.  We were able to water it, and the soil in our home garden is much better than the dust at the radio ranch.  We will try again next year.  Sometimes you get a bumper crop, sometimes you end up with diddly squat.  Hope YOUR garden was a success this year.
