Group Pushing Ballot Proposal That Would Require Counseling For All Couples Planning To Marry [Video]
I know that the divorce rate is sky high and climbing, but is that the government's problem?
Some point to this as a solution. See what you think.
Kids Against Divorce, an organization based in California, is pushing to get a proposal on the November 2014 ballot in the state of Colorado that would make counseling mandatory for all couples planning to tie the knot. The group also plans to aggressively lobby for similar bills across the country.
The Colorado Marriage Education Act would mandate ten hours of educational counseling for the first marriage, twenty hours for the second marriage and thirty hours for the third. Widowers planning another marriage would be treated like first time couples.
The pre-maritial sessions will not be free...the couple will be on the hook for any associated costs.
