A group of Flint children who call themselves "the Blight Squad" spent a day helping to clean up our community this week.

The Mott Park Blight Squad's organizer, Steven Major said "A lot of these kids they had the opportunity to stay at home and play video games and they volunteered to come out and help out in the community which is great because blight affects them too. It affects kids quite a bit, it affects their esteem and it helps them not feel that great about themselves when they're living in a community that's blighted." He also says that it is important for these kids to get involved in improving their city.

The Blight Squad is always looking for volunteers to help clean up the Mott Park Area of Flint. If you are interested in volunteering, you can get more details on their Facebook page.
