Last year it was made legal to sell alcoholic beverages at the same time on Sundays as the rest of the week. The law was supposed to give communities the choice of opting out of Sunday morning sales but an oversight made it more of an all or none situation.

Before the law went in to effect last year, alcoholic beverages were not available for purchase until noon on Sundays. Under the new policy the communities could choose to sell using the old template or the new. Unfortunately there were some things overlooked and the choices were either allow the earlier sales hours on Sunday or no liquor sales at all.

Governor Rick Snyder signed a bill on Monday which fixes those problems and allows communities to allow or disallow Sunday morning sales or even choose to pass on Sunday sales altogether. Snyder says that the bill will allow local governments decide what is best for them in regards to alcohol sales.
