Cleanup of the massive pile of rubble that was once the Genesee Towers is expected to be completed soon.

According to ABC 12, the work should be completed in a few weeks. Project Manager Dave Lurvey said about 90 percent of the rubble has been hauled away to a landfill in Montrose Township. When finished, about 30,000 pounds of rubble will have been removed.

The 19-story Genesee Towers was built in the 1960s and was imploded in December last year. After all the rubble is cleared, fill will be brought in and a park will be built at the site. It’s expected to be completed by this fall.
