The program offers rehabilitation instead of jail for addicts who are ready to get sober.

The Families Against Narcotics (FAN) group here in Genesee County was a huge support system for me when I was dealing with an opioid addiction with a family member, and their continued success is really starting to show.

'Hope Not Handcuffs' allows addicts to go into a local police station and ask for help without being arrested. It first started in Oakland County and has spread to Genesee County as well. And now, the first graduating class is talking about how the program has changed their lives.

Community members, as well as members of FAN, act as "angels" to those people who ask for help. You can apply to be an angel HERE.

Congratulations to all of the participants and their angels!
