For the second year in a row, Genesee County Schools have fallen below the state averages on tests of student proficiency across multiple subjects. Test results were released Monday.

The MEAP (Michigan Educational Assessment Program) has 18 categories in the test. The county was topped by state averages in every category. Overall there was some improvement in 15 categories and declines are not as drastic as last year, but the news is not good in our county's educational system. It is a scary trend that does not bode well for the future of the community.
