Joel Mireles was recently crowned Homecoming King at his high school. However, several classmates at his Texas school protested Mireles' win because he is gay. Then he got the last laugh.

A few students targeted Joel online, even creating the hashtag 'Not My King' which they had printed on t-shirts.

But after the initial sting wore off, Mireles got back at his bullies by ordering one of the shirts. He tells KHOU he even paid extra for expedited shipping.

"I just thought if I bought one, it would be a statement saying, 'This isn't affecting me and you guys aren't hurting me.'" he said.

A picture of Joel donning the shirt has since gone viral on social media, with overwhelming support pouring in from all over the country.
