You read that correctly, ex-US Representative Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick of Detroit is one of seven former Congress members presiding over hearings this week regarding the existence of extraterrestrials. Yes, extraterrestrials.

The committee will be hearing 30 hours of testimony from individuals who claim that aliens do contact Earth, and the government is trying to keep it a secret.

If Kilpatrick's name sounds familiar, it's because she's the mother of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who was recently convicted on over 20 counts of corruption.

The Detroit News reports that Kilpatrick will be paid $20,000 plus expenses for serving on the committee.
