His mom was cooking and had no idea that he was on the phone.

5-year-old Billy Nolin grabbed a cell phone on Thanksgiving and dialed 911, but not because of an emergency: he wanted to invite deputies over for dinner. His grandfather noticed that he was on the phone with someone, and then told his mom that he had called 911.

“Will you come over cause we’re eating Thanksgiving? Thank you. Bye.”

Billy was crying when the police pulled up, but Deputy Dannon Byrd was super nice about it. He said that Billy had made his day, and reminded him to only use 911 for emergencies. He then gave him a badge and allowed him to sit in the car and activate the sirens.

Billy says that, when he grows up, he wants to be a police officer.
