After budget cuts resulting in police officers losing their jobs, the Flint Police Department is now looking to hire 15 new officers.

When Police Chief Timothy Johnson took over at the Flint Police Department, he said his number one priority would be to reduce crime in Flint. He has said at a press conference that vilent crime is down, but no numbers that support that statement have been released. As part of his efforts to reduce crime, Chief Johnson wants to hire 15 new officers by October of this year. He also plans to bring back Flint's arson investigation unit.
