When it comes to vacant homes, Flint leads the nation. The numbers, released by Realty Trac, put Flint at the front of the pack with 7.2% of its homes unoccupied.

Daren Blomquist, Senior Vice President of Communications for Realty Trac says that the problem is supply and demand. When availability exceeds demand, property values are driven down, and the problem is compounded.

He notes that Flint's housing market was improving three years ago, but points out that the ongoing water crisis may be having a negative on Flint housing as of late.
