A 16-year-old boy has died, after he was shot for trying to break into a home on Roselawn near Cloverlawn. Police aren't going to release his name, but say the boy tried to break into the home yesterday afternoon.

The woman said she threatened the boy and said she had a gun as he was trying to break into her home. She ended up shooting him and he was taken to the hospital and was listed in critical condition. He passed away this morning, according to ABC-12.

One neighbor defends the woman and says she was just protecting herself:

'"She's doing what she had to do to protect herself. She's a great lady. She don't do nothing wrong to nobody, one of the best neighbors you could want. They break into her house in the middle of the day, what's she supposed to do?'"

The Genesee County Prosecutor's office plans to go over the case next week to decide if the incident was a justified homicide. So, did the homeowner do the right thing by shooting the kid who was trying to break into her home? She did warn the boy, but since he was only a teenager, does it make a difference? If this happened to you, would you have shot the intruder?
