On Tuesday, the City of Flint announced a citywide cleanup effort all throughout the month of May. The goal of the initiative is to make Flint as clean as possible by Memorial Day and keep it that way.

The short-term goal is to get residents, neighborhood groups, block clubs and businesses involved in the "Love Your City" May campaign. The long-term hope is to make this an annual event.

There are four key dates throughout the month for pickups:

  • On May 6th there will be unlimited large item pickup.
  • On May 13th there unlimited bagged refuse pickup.
  • On May 18th there will be a tire scavenger hunt and drop-off.
  • On May 20th there will be a brush only pickup.

For more information on how to volunteer, cal the Kearsley Park/Mott Volunteer Service at (810) 235-5494. The office is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
