Bread sticks will make way for burgers and fries, as the Fazoli's restaurant in Flint Township has closed its doors. The fettuccine franchise ceased operations yesterday. (March 31st)

Restaurant owner Brent Skaggs says he plans to re-open the Corunna Rd. facility in late May as an "upscale burger" establishment.

"We have a new concept we're real excited about," Skaggs told Cars 108 in a phone interview. He feels that after 12 years as Fazoli's, it's time for a change. "It's going to be more of a fast-casual concept called 'Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers' which will feature different types of burgers, including build-your-own burgers." Craft beers, wine, and frozen cocktails will also be featured.

"We've been researching this for a long time, this is a concept that we developed, and we're very excited about it," said Skaggs. His company also owns 'Harvey's Grill and Bar' in Bay City and Saginaw, as well as other Fazoli's locations in Michigan. He says that he hopes to eventually expand the 'Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers' brand beyond Flint. Skaggs went on to say that Flint is the only city in which he's discontinuing the Fazoli's franchise.

Joan Thornton, General Manager of the former Fazoli's in Flint Township, will remain with the company, and says she plans to hire approximately 40 people for the new establishment. She and Skaggs hope to re-open on May 21st.

So will you miss Fazoli's? My family and I certainly will!
