Recently Flint City Council members approved a drag racing ordinance, in which police can give out harsher penalties and fines for those involved. ABC-12 reports that city council wants to step it up even more to create harsher punishments because of all the problems they've had in the past.

If your car is impounded, owners have to pay $900 to get it back under the new ordinance and council members want to increase that fee to see if they can crack down on the problem. They were supposed to discuss the increased fees at their meeting yesterday but haven't said what they voted on.

With higher fines and penalties, do you think this will prevent people from being involved in drag racing? Most people are probably still going to go to the events regardless of the fines. What do you think about drag racing now? Is it a big deal?
