Flint Couples Hope to Beat the Odds, and Win a Dream Wedding from Soaring Eagle
25 couples from Flint, as well as a handful from Clio, Davison, Swartz Creek, Flushing, and Grand Blanc, are all hoping to win a $40,000 dream wedding package from Soaring Eagle. Only two are serious contenders, having gathered more than 1,000 votes in the casino’s photo contest. Couples use social media and word of mouth to encourage friends to vote.
Angie Woolard says she’s never considered herself competitive, but as she and fiancé Todd Todson approach the finish line in the ‘Dream Wedding Giveaway’, her competitive spirit has come alive. The Flint couple is currently runner up in a pool that includes nearly 1,200 couples.
As of today, Angie and Todd have over 7,500 votes. In order to win, however, they will need to a lot of support in order to best a couple from Mt. Pleasant who currently has over 16,000 votes.
Todd and Angie are both U of M Flint graduates. They met online in 2001, “before it was the ‘in’ thing,” Angie jokes. She looks forward to the opportunity to share her special day with friends and family.
“It would be uplifting to celebrate our love and commitment to each other. Please vote for us…our life journey together is full of excitement and winning would be the icing on the cake. Perhaps our wedding cake… wink, wink!”
Brina Wright and Scott Carman live in Flint with their three children who are 3, 2, and 6 months. Brina says they’ve been engaged for a “very long time,” but have postponed their nuptials several times because of financial reasons.
“We put our young children first, and this would be our chance to put ourselves first.”
In a phone interview with Cars 108, Brina said she’s been dreaming of a big wedding since she was a teenager.
“To be able to have everyone there that I love and care about, and to have them witness our big day would be great.”
Voting continues until September 30th, and the winning couple will be announced on October 2nd. You may vote only once per day, using your Facebook profile. (Complete rules are available on Soaring Eagle’s website.)
