Summer means the soup kitchens will serve more people, yet have less volunteers since many people are on vacation and school and youth groups are not in session. August has several openings that maybe you could help fill. 

John Manse is the Director of Community Services for Catholic Charities of Shiawassee & Genesee Counties and we often times get emails looking for volunteers. The shifts are not very long, but every person that volunteers contributes greatly to the overall health and well being of our community.

We had a chance to work with John and his dedicated crew. The work was not hard, and the results were filling to those in need and fulfilling to those able to lend a hand. If we all chip in, we could help fill these spots, and future spots together.

There are two main soup kitchens that need help in Genesee county, and the dates and times of need are as follows:

North End Soup Kitchen

1st Shift—9am to 1pm – July 30, August 1, 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31
(Sundays hours are 1030am – 230pm)
2nd Shift—2pm—530pm – August 2, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30, 31
