The person who wrote the letter said that stealing the lights "bothers me more and more. Please forgive me."

The money and the apology letter were sent to the Village Treasurer of Owendale, in the thumb. The letter was anonymous, but indicated that the person had gotten drunk back in the 60s and stolen Christmas lights from the city.

The money will go into the general fund, but they are framing the letter and displaying it, to show that it's never too late to do the right thing.

Is it weird that I feel bad for not having that much guilt about worse things I've done in my life? This "thief" is a better person than me. ;)
