Some people will call it exploitation, but I think it's a great idea. This idea will give focus and a sense of purpose to female inmates, it will do something good for a homeless person, and it will keep plastic shopping bags out of landfills.

Female prisoners in Marysville, Ohio are weaving recycled plastic shopping bags into six foot by four foot sleeping mats for the homeless. Inmates that were interviewed said that they enjoyed being able to have a sense of purpose and giving back to the community.

What do you think? Is this exploitation, or should prison inmates be expected to work on tasks that benefit their community? Would you like the state of Michigan to try a program like this?
