ABC12 reports that a family of three is safe after being rescued from the Flint River during a canoe trip gone wrong on Monday. You can watch the footage of their rescue right here.

At about 2pm on Monday the family's canoe became lodged on something in the water and they were unable to move any further. Many believe the water is too high right now including the man who shot the video, Gordon Yurk who said:

"Take heed at how high the river is and how fast the current is going because while it's open in a lot of areas, there's areas like here under this bridge, where, you know, there's a lot of debris that'll hang you up,"

The Flushing Township Fire Department stepped in an used a pulley to bring the family to safety as you can see in the video below.
