There is extra security and an added police presence in local schools today after a series of threats were circulated on social media this weekend.

The Flint Township Police Department will be  providing a stronger presence at Carman-Ainsworth High School and the Flint Police Department has provided liaison officers at the International Academy of Flint following the threats.

The Carman-Ainsworth threat was reported after being found online Sunday evening and according to Lt. Brad Wangler the threat was shared from a fake social media account. There was a similar threat made in relation to the International Academy of Flint.

In a letter posted by Superintendent Eddie Kindle today, he assures parents and students that the threats have been “taken seriously”, but they feel there is no credibility to them at this time. “We will remain diligent and cooperate with local law enforcement as safety is a primary concern,” Kindle said in the post.

The International Academy also posted to their social media assuring parents and students that they are prioritizing the threat and let parents know they are assisting authorities in the investigation.Traci S. Cormier, IAF Director wrote, "They (authorities) are utilizing all of their software and tracking tools that they have to look into this matter. We have shared the messages and the phone numbers associated with the messages with the authorities. The safety of everyone at IAF is our number one priority."

Both the Flint Police Department and Flint Township Police Department are continuing their ongoing investigation into the threat.
