Dynamite Used On Local Mid-Michigan River To Blow Up Ice Jams [VIDEO]

Blow the ice up that’s what we’ll do. ‘Old School’ at its best. Caught on video

Sebewaing , a small town on the southwestern edge of the Thumb sits on the banks of the Sebewaing River. The river connects to the Saginaw Bay. The river also has a history of flooding the town.

Village leaders worked with the Department of Environmental Quality, The Department of Natural Resources and the Army Corps of Engineers – spending about three hours triggering dynamite charges on Wednesday.

Less technical terms: They blew up the ice into chunks so it will flow..not rise. The cameras were there.
