Drinking and tipping may not be as dangerous as drinking and driving, but it can be just as costly. A patron at Thailiciou in Edgewater, Colorado left a $1,088 after enjoying a $60 meal, which obviously included several cocktails.

Although owner Bee Anantatho was happy that one of her servers had received such a generous tip, she was skeptical. She cautioned her server to hang on to the windfall and not to spend it right away.

Her instincts were right. The man returned the next morning, and sheepishly admitted that he had made a mistake.

“He said, ‘I’m sorry, I was drunk,’ ” Anantatho told the Denver Post. “He didn’t know he put all the money he had in the checkbook.”

In his drunken state, the man may have confused his $100 bills for $1 bills.

The server returned the man's excessive tip, and was given $100 to cover the meal and tip.
